Types of inductors

Inductor is an important passive component in electronic circuit design, which is designed for different demands, ex: energy storage inductor and power filter / power choke.

There are many types of inductors; different core materials as: Ni-Zn, Mn-Zn, MPP…etc, they are according the frequency, temperature, magnetic saturation or other requirements to use for the different applications.

Inductors used in Switching Power Supply are high-frequency magnetic components; because the voltage and current have temperature, insulation grade, withstand voltage and harsh environment demand factors in different environments, the required characteristics and theories are very different.

Therefore, during the circuit design, the Impedance, AC resistance and frequency, core loss, saturation current and other characteristics should be taken into account in addition to the basic parameter of the inductance.
